Wall Street Journal: New York's Double-Edged Hotel Boom

There was a time when travelers in Brooklyn and Queens struggled to find overnight shelter, thanks to the sheer paucity of hotels. Excluding a few airport inns, the New York Marriott Brooklyn Bridge, opened in 1998, was the borough’s first new full-service hotel since Herbert Hoover was president. The developer, Joshua Muss, says he was often told that “a hotel in Brooklyn is a piece of pork to a kosher butcher shop.” read more at Wall Street Journal >>

AIArchitect: Leeser Wins Helix Hotel Design Competition for Abu Dhabi Development →

New York city-based Leeser Architecture has won a design competition for the Helix Hotel, a 208-room luxury centerpiece for the Zayed Bay development of office buildings, condominiums, and retail along the water in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The design features staggered floor plates that spiral upward, with the structure partially floating in the bay adjacent to the Sheik Zayed Bridge, designed by Zaha Hadid, Hon.
