Eyebeam Atelier Museum
New York, New York
2001

The design concept is rooted in the context of Chelsea as a transforming industrial neighborhood. The contextual scale of two-story warehouses and garages serves as the organizational structure for the museum, with the garage being an incomplete, ever-changing but perfect space.

Stacking and interlocking this model produces an assembly of high-tech new media shops, blurring the traditional boundaries of production and exhibition, visitor and visited, curator and artist, observer and observed. The notion of the museum as an incomplete instrument to be used, altered and explored renders this building timeless.
